The KlimaGuard™ monitor is a small microprocessor which measures your floor heater once every second by checking if the insulation quality and element resistance are the same as they were at first connection of the heater to the monitor.

In order to use the monitor, proceed as follows: Remove the battery insulation tab by pulling it out as indicated. If shorted, disconnect the black and orange leads of the KlimaGuard™ from each other and wait a few seconds. The KlimaGuard will start to tick.

Connect the corresponding colours of the monitor wires to the heater cold leads.  After about 3 seconds the ticking will stop, a beep will be heard and the LED will flash green.

The starting resistance values are now measured by the KlimaGuard and stored in memory. This KlimaGuard™ is now linked to this specific heating element. This can only be done once.

If the KlimaGuard™ sounds an alarm (beeps) and the LED flashes red, check if all monitor connections are still OK. If this is so, the element may be damaged. In such case please phone your supplier immediately.

To switch off the KlimaGuard™, you can twist the black and orange leads together. After +/- 4 seconds, the monitor will switch off automatically (sleep mode). When switching on, you will get an alarm until the monitor is connected correctly to it's corresponding (linked) heater.

Should more than one heater be installed in a room, each heater must be tested and fitted with its own KlimaGuard™. Once so fitted the KlimaGuard™ cannot be interchanged between heaters.

Proceed with the installation as per fitting instructions. If at any time the monitor alarm sounds, contact the telephone number on the monitor for assistance and advise.

Complete the installation of the heater. Check that the KlimaGuard™ monitor is still flashing a green light which indicates that the heater is still in good condition. DO NOT DISCONNECT the monitor, but leave it connected until the tiling and grouting is completed.

When the tiling has been successfully completed and the heater is ready to be connected to the thermostat, disconnect the monitor and remove the batteries or twist the black and orange leads together.

The KlimaGuard™ comes with a Lithium battery installed. The battery life in monitoring mode is about 6 months, in alarm mode (beeping), the battery life is about 3 months. (In 'sleep mode' the battery life exceeds 5 years).
